Rovio, the highly successful iOS, Android and PC software development company, tells us that Angry Birds Space is in orbit and on-track for delivery to iPads across the world. PCmag.com reports that Angry Birds Space runs flawlessly on Android devices but only features 65 levels. When the iOS version hits iPad, there will be 95 levels.

“After a giant claw kidnaps their eggs, the Angry Birds chase it into a wormhole and find themselves floating in a strange new galaxy – surrounded by space pigs! Luckily the Angry Birds have super powers of their own…” reads Rovio‘s description of the game.

So what makes Angry Birds Space different from any other Angry Birds game? Gravity. Yes, gravity brings a unique and interesting gameplay twist to an already tried and true concept. Now, you’ll not only have to hit those smug pigs but you’ll have to work with the gravitational pull of planets to get to them.

After long negotiations between Apple and Facebook about bringing a well-integrated Facebook app to iOS5, it looks like we’ll finally be getting a look at it at Apple “Let’s Talk iPhone” event (according to Mashable), where the iPhone 5 is expected to be announced. Reports also mentioned a revamped iPhone app along with the possibility of HTML5 apps that would allow users to play games like farmville on their iPhones.

The Facebook app for iPad has been thought to be done for months but because of tense negotiations with Apple, it’s been postponed until now. former employee of Facebook, Jeff Verkoeyen, wrote on his personal blog, “It is now nearly five months since the app was feature complete and I haven’t seen it released. Needless to say this was a frustrating experience for me. The experience of working on this app was a large contribution to the reasons why I left Facebook.”

This is more of a speculation post than anything else but it’s a valid and probable speculation. With the iPad 2 several times faster than the original in the graphics processing department, who’s to say that an iPad 3 or 4 wouldn’t be a worthy alternative to a Wii a few years down the road (assuming no new console from Nintendo comes out[unlikely]).

The current most demanding games on the iPad look better than PlayStation 2 or original xbox games look. Apple has included AirPlay, which allows to instantly stream photos and video to an Apple TV or PC. The iPad 3 could allow full transfer of applications to an Apple TV, effectively turning the iPad into a worthy console and video game remote controller while the user watches the TV hooked up with an Apple TV.

This direction would give gamers a reason to buy an iPad and push current iPad owners to buy an Apple TV. What’s your opinion on this? Is this something you expected to happen with the iPad 2 or are you hearing it first? Let us know!

Apple has just updated the iPad application store with a much needed feature that seemed to have gone unattended for some time. Before, when someone wanted to find a niche app, they would be forced to do a search then painfully flip page after page in search of what they were looking for.

With filters, users will now be able to sort search results based on a variety of factors including: categories, release date, customer rating and price. Although viewing highly rated apps in a search can help you find apps that are better liked you must be aware that some users and developers can skew the results with inaccurate ratings.

Although MobileNavigator isn’t free, it’s full featured and robust GPS navigator and the recent update added some nifty new features:

The Internet is an every-changing world. Design is a major contribution to what we see and feel on the the web. Web designers are now slowly optimizing their sites for more than just desktop monitors. There have always been websites that recognize whether you are on a mobile phone and simply strip out all the graphics and just leave the text. Design has come a long way and so have mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad.

Free iPad designers are not only creating websites that are optimized for Apple’s tablet PC but plainly making the design feel like an application downloaded from the iPad app store. An example can be found in the image above. Me.com is a mail service and as you can see, it has much the feel of a installed iPad app.

It looks as though Apple hears the cries and frustration of app developers as well as users. Apple recently published a press release that more or less stated that they understand that many are not happy with their strict policy for applications being approved and are “relaxing” the guidelines for submission and approval of future apps into the marketplace.

CUPERTINO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The App Store? has revolutionized the way mobile applications are developed and distributed. With over 250,000 apps and 6.5 billion downloads, the App Store has become the world’s largest mobile application platform and App Store developers have earned over one billion dollars from the sales of their apps.

We are continually trying to make the App Store even better. We have listened to our developers and taken much of their feedback to heart. Based on their input, today we are making some important changes to our iOS Developer Program license in sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9 to relax some restrictions we put in place earlier this year.

In particular, we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need.

In addition, for the first time we are publishing the App Store Review Guidelines to help developers understand how we review submitted apps. We hope it will make us more transparent and help our developers create even more successful apps for the App Store.

The App Store is perhaps the most important milestone in the history of mobile software. Working together with our developers, we will continue to surprise and delight our users with innovative mobile apps.

Shortly after, two applications made their way onto the ipad that before would have definitely been denied. Google Voice, a competitor of sorts as well as the VLC player, an open-source video player that “duplicates functionality” of playing many different video file types..

Apple is very careful about Flash-based applications and have recently been denying Flash apps into the itunes marketplace. Absolutely no Flash is allowed in browsing the Internet, which has really put the hurt on many advertising networks. iSwifter has come up with a new concept though, one which aims to workaround Apple’s ban on Flash.

Much like OnLive, a gaming platform that handles more demanding games on it’s on server’s rather than having the game installed on each and every computer. This concept allows gamers to play without spending 1k+ on a gaming machine. iSwifter works in the same way, providing Flash-based games from networks like Yahoo Games. The information(game) is hosted not on the iPad itself but on servers, when a user plays a game on the iPad, the touch screen information is sent back to the server, then the game responds.

This idea comes with it’s flaws though, many are concerned about lag. iSwifter’s CEO explains that the free ipad app is available on the marketplace now and currently offers games to be played over wifi only. This eliminates most of the lag, unless you have a poor internet connection.

148Apps reports a little milestone for Apple. over the weekend the iTunes App store reached over 250,000 applications for use on the iPad but the vast majority for use on the iPhone and iPod Touch. With more devices planned from Apple, like the next generation iPod Touch and iTV, an explosion of Applications is likely to take place.

It’s also worth mentioning that a significant amount of apps are denied for inclusion in the app store, for unknown reasons. If those denied applications were counted, along with applications currently in queue, the number would be doubled if not tripled. Steve Jobs will likely mention the news at Apple’s press event on Wednesday.
